What changed on XPHero Fans: the Growth ladder, and the bonus labels we had wrong

Nothing in the game changed this week — the site did. We shipped a page for the Hero Collection's Growth tab, and we fixed the names we were printing for its bonus codes. The second half is why this post exists: three of those labels weren't abbreviations at all — they named the wrong stat — in tables that people copy.

New page: the Growth ladder, all 53 rungs

The question we keep getting in Discord is a screenshot of the Growth tab and “how do I win these prizes?” The answer is that you don't win them, and there is nothing to win: the number under the star icon is the sum of every hero's star grade, and the rungs are thresholds you cross, then Claim by hand. Six grades is the cap for all 26 heroes, which is why the track tops out at 156★ — the last rung needs every hero in the game maxed, so it is a checklist of your collection, not a reward table.

The new Growth ladder page lists every rung with the exact card text the game prints: 100 option bonuses in total, 47 rungs paying a pair and 6 a single bonus. It also decodes every code the ladder pays — 20 of the 28 in the game's shared vocabulary — names the stat behind each one, and says who it lands on. The track is account-wide, but weapon and attack-type bonuses only feed the heroes that use them. The numbers worth knowing before you plan shards: the biggest single pile is HP Recovery Up at +110% across 7 rungs, and the 126★–141★ block pays one rung per weapon class at +28% each, so no weapon gets a better rung than another. The tab itself opens once you clear quest 168.

The labels we had wrong

Bare integers are stored all over the costume tables — the level-up milestones, the star ladder, and both Hero Codex layers. Our pages rendered those ids through a short hand-written map, and three things in it weren't abbreviations at all: they named the wrong stat.

Code 2 printed as “Bonus option slot”. On the Heroes & Evolution page its value even printed as a slot index — #10 instead of +10, because the page carried a special case in its renderer for that one label. It is Critical Damage Up, and the number beside it was always a percentage of critical damage: 27 milestone rows and 32 codex cells said otherwise.

Two codes named a different stat entirely. Code 11 is Cargo Capacity and the map called it “ATK Speed”; code 12 is Skill Damage and the map called it “Move Speed” — a real stat, but code 8's, and not what those rows pay. 21 milestone rows and 12 codex cells read “ATK Speed” where the game means Cargo Up; 33 and 30 read “Move Speed” where it means Skill Damage Up.

Codes 15–28 were presented as a “skill-damage family”. 155 of the 295 bonus cells in the codex post's table printed that phrase plus a raw id, which makes fourteen unrelated options look like one stat scaled by number. They are eight stats and the six weapon classes, and skill damage — code 12 — isn't in that range at all.

What the page printedWhat the row actually pays
Bonus option slot, value #10Critical Damage Up +10%
skill-damage family 16 +2 (set 16)EXP Gain Up +2%
skill-damage family 22 +13 (set 172)Basic Atk Up +13%
skill-damage family 23 +23 (set 148)Dagger Attack Power +23%
Move Speed +11 (sets 148, 172)Skill Damage Up +11%
ATK Speed (hero milestones)Cargo Up
HP Regen, ATK, HPHP Recovery Up, Attack Power Up, HP Up

No label on the site is a guess now. Four tables supply every name: RuneOptionTypeData enumerates the 28 ids, TraitOptionTypeData carries the long stat name for 1–21, StatData names the six weapon classes 23–28, and the HERO_BONUS_OPTION_* locale strings are the wording the cards themselves print. The heroes page, the runes page, the codex post and the new Growth page all read from that one source, and the build fails rather than ships if the id list stops being 1–28 or a trait type appears outside it.

To be fair to the old pages: the heroes page did disclose that “our labels for them are a documented reconstruction — values are shown exactly as stored”. That was accurate about the values and too generous about the labels — two of them weren't reconstructions of the game's names, they were other stats' names. The codex table, where all 295 of those bonus cells live, carried no note at all.

What this means for your notes

Every value is unchanged: same rungs, same percentages, same costs. Only the names moved. If you wrote any of this down, here is the translation.

The aggregates we reported still hold, because the underlying rows never moved. Across the 184 codex sets, the leaders by how often they open a set are HP Recovery Up 29, Skill Damage Up 23, Critical Damage Up 18, Basic Atk Up 17; 53 sets open with a weapon-class bonus; 20 distinct bonus names cover the whole codex. What changed is only that the names on those rows are now the names the game prints.

One vocabulary, three pages

The same 28 ids are worded differently depending on where the game shows them, and each page now prints the wording of the table it presents: the rune table calls code 11 BAG, the hero card says Cargo Up, and the trait row calls it Cargo Capacity. That is the game's own inconsistency, not ours — what isn't negotiable is that all three come from the game rather than from us.

Two smaller things rode along: the Growth Ladder now sits in the Data menu on every page of the site, and the bot's data dump — the JSON behind its /evolution answers — was rebuilt from the same vocabulary, so it no longer stores the old names. Nothing in a Discord embed printed those labels before or now (that command shows costs, star prices and base stats), so the rebuild is about the source rather than the wording: the bot can no longer answer from a file the page disagrees with.

Every page mentioned is live on the site as of this post. Nothing in this update changes game data — it is all a re-reading of the v27.0.0 extraction. XP Hero is developed by Supercent — XPHero Fans is unofficial and not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
